Fayetteville, Ark. -- The Arkansas Music Pavilion, (The AMP) is proud to announce our sixth season of bringing national recording artists to Northwest Arkansas and the four-state region. Starting earlier than ever before, the fun begins – April 22, 2010. We will continue our commitment to promoting a season of diverse artistic talents and varied musical genres. The first half of our season is a great example of our efforts to represent a wide variety of musical interests. Artists confirmed for spring shows as of February 10, 2010 are as follows: April 22 The AMP opens the season with Levon Helm and the Cate Brothers presented with the Walton Arts Center. Brian Crowne, AMP owner, expressed; his excitement for this partnership, “The AMP is truly honored to with the Walton Arts Center to bring this Arkansas legend (Levon Helm) to Northwest Arkansas. The WAC is celebrated for the caliber of talent they bring to the region and The AMP is proud to be able to work side by side with them to bring this Grammy wining artist and native son to our stage.” Levon is an Arkansas native renowned for his gusty, blues and soulful Delta sound. “Congratulations to Levon for winning his second consecutive Grammy, for 'Electric Dirt,' in the first-ever category of Best Americana Album of 2009!!!! Levon received the recording industry's highest honor at the 52nd Grammy Awards.”, quoted from the Levon Helm website in recognition of this American legend. May 1 Rock the Runway benefiting the Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas and NWA Young Professionals Scholarship Fund will be the kick-off to The AMP’s commitment to community in 2010. The AMP has been and remains committed to supporting fundraising efforts for non-profits in the area. Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas serves Carroll, Madison and Washington counties. Established in 1984, SPSF NWA is a private nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization dedicated to helping single parents accomplish their educational goals and create a better, brighter future for their children. They offer scholarships to help single parents pay for the costs of their education and related living expenses. The AMP is proud to support single parents with their education through this fundraiser. The Young Professionals of Northwest Arkansas (YPNWA) will be hosting Rock the Runway. Tammy York, Community Director of NWAYP & Executive Producer of Rock the Runway for Education, explained, "With the astounding success of Rock the Runway for Education in 2009, we are excited to enhance production and kick-off the summer 2010 with a bang at the AMP,". In addition to benefiting the Single Parent Scholarship Fund, proceeds from Rock the Runway; will also go towards the Young Professionals Scholarship Fund for local students. May 21 & 22 Bikes, Blues & Hot Rods Too (BB&HRT) cruises back to The AMP for a spring event in addition to the fall festival this year. The Georgia Satellites and Blue Oyster Cult on stage will guarantee hot music for this cool weekend. The success of BB&HRT in the fall last season demonstrated how much folks love good music, good bikes, good cars and good food. Bikes, Blues & Hot Rods Too is a sanctioned Bikes, Blues & Barbeque event and we look forward to two days of music, bikes, cars and food. The AMP and Pig Trail Harley Davidson are partnering for this new two day festival in the spring. “We have scheduled the majority of these activities for FREE,” said Dan Allen, BB&HRT promoter. Brian Crowne continued, “It is important to everyone involved in this festival that our patrons have the best experience possible. That’s why we’re having two days of activities and vendors available at two locations.” Pig Trail Harley Davidson will be the site for Rumble in the Ozarks Poker Run benefiting NWA Special Olympics; Bike Show on Saturday; the Ill Conduct Stunt Riders and many other exciting happenings including a 2010 Harley Davidson give-away! The AMP will have two nights of music for this festival. On Friday, May 21, The AMP will host a variety of regional blues bands as classic cars cruise in for the car show on Saturday. Saturday, May 22 brings the Georgia Satellites and Blue Oyster Cult to The AMP stage for one HUGE night of Hot Music! The Georgia Satellites from their bar band roots to their chart-crashing megahits have kept the world moving to their gritty, three-chord rock n roll. “Keep Your Hands to Yourself”, followed by “Battleship of Chains”, “Hippy, Hippy Shake” and others have earned these guys a permanent spot in music history. Blue Oyster Cult for nearly three decades has been thrilling fans of intelligent hard rock worldwide. BOC’s list of hits include: “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”, “Godzilla”, “Burnin’ for You”, “Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll”, “Then Came the Last Days of May”, “I Love the Night”, “In Thee”, “Veteran of Psychic Wars”, and many, many more. BOC is often cited as one of the greatest hard rock bands of all time. “We can’t wait for MORE cowbell” said Brian Crowne, AMP owner, with a smile and a wink. BOC was the subject of an all-time classic Saturday Night Live skit about the musical use of cowbell. May 27 Gary Allan takes The AMP stage and brings with him a guitar case full of hot country hits. Gary’s music is described on his website as, “It's raw and emotional. It's freight-train-to-nowhere lonely. It's hard-rockin', no-apologies country music that has traded in its twang for a gravelly growl millions of fans recognize as the voice of Gary Allan.” With hits such as “Nothing on But the Radio”, “Man to Man”, “Tough Little Boys”, “Her Man” and “Right Where I Need to Be”, The AMP will be hard-riding this country train into a night of great music. June 12 You Can’t Touch This – M.C. Hammer rocks The AMP. This show will be Hammer Time magic. “Everyone we’ve mentioned this show to is so excited. We think this could be the biggest party of the summer. We’re looking forward to seeing AMP guests breakin’ down with M.C.,” commented Lea Ann VanWinkle-Gisler, AMP Hospitality Team. The music and season continue into October and The AMP will be releasing additional shows and events as they are scheduled. Currently, we are working on the line-up for late June through Bikes, Blues and Barbeque (BBB). The AMP is proud to once again be the headlining venue for BBB. We look forward to producing concerts in keeping with BBB’s tradition of national acts and crowd pleasing favorites. New Guest Experiences in 2010 The AMP is proud to announce new opportunities for guests to enjoy during every show, as well as, private events. The AMP believes in supporting our community in many ways – one of which will be continuing to admit children 12 and under free with a ticketed adult. Open this year from April to October, The AMP provides a great outdoor venue with the benefits of being inside. “We bring you the best music and the best venue possible,” according to Crowne, “We love being outside and covered by one of the most beautiful pavilions in the country to enjoy the most diverse musical season anywhere.” The AMP offers completely unique entertainment experiences. The fully covered, 21,000-square-foot pavilion seats more than 2,300 and is located on the south side of the Northwest Arkansas Mall in Fayetteville. With no seat farther than 125 feet from the stage, The AMP makes you feel like the artists are performing for you. The open-air venue also features sponsor and special guest tables where catering and cabaret seating are available. The Lime Light Lounge & VIP Hospitality Area is available for Special Guest Ticket holders through the gracious support of A.W.
