Arkansas judge dismisses petition to remove clerk

— A Miller County Circuit Court judge has dismissed a petition that sought to remove the Sebastian County Circuit Court Clerk from office over allegations of sexual harassment.

Judge Kirk Johnson ruled Thursday the plaintiffs in the case didn’t have standing under the statute they used to file the petition against Ken Blevins.

Three female deputy circuit clerks filed a formal grievance with the county, alleging Blevins touched them inappropriately and made suggestive comments. Blevins denies the accusations.

A grievance committee ruled that Blevins sexually harassed office employees, but it had no legal standing to punish him. The removal petition was then filed.

Blevins told KFSM-TV he was pleased with the decision.

The women’s attorney, David Dunagin, is waiting for Johnson to issue an opinion before deciding whether to appeal.

I believe sexual harassment is a crime, shouldn't they push for prosecution of criminal charges? Once convicted then maybe he would be removed from office...

This was a political move. They were unhappy he won the office and worked to get him removed this way. The grievance committee would not even allow him to answer the charges. If he did it, he should pay the price. If he did not, they should be penalized somehow.
