Democrats file congressional bids

Two Democrats have made their bids for Republican-held congressional seats official as the filing period for state and federal office continues.

Democratic congressional hopefuls Ken Aden and Clark Hall on Monday filed paperwork to run for congressional seats. Aden is seeking the 3rd congressional district seat held by U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, and Hall is seeking the 1st congressional district seat held by U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford.

Hall, a state representative, is one of two Democrats who have announced a bid to challenge Crawford’s re-election bid. Arkansas State University economist Gary Latanich has also said he’ll seek the Democratic nomination.

Aden is the only Democrat expected to file for Womack’s seat.

The one-week filing period ends Thursday.
