LITTLE ROCK Arkansas Forestry Commission and local fire crews continue to battle wildfires in parts of the state.
Commission spokesman Sheila Doughty says crews on Sunday have suppressed two of the seven fires they were fighting. She says a single-engine airplane was dispatched to help battle a blaze in Hot Spring County near Social Hill.
No injuries had immediately been reported.
Doughty says Sunday’s fires generally have been smaller and have occurred in wooded areas where there have been few homes.
In central Arkansas, fire crews contained a blaze that rekindled from an earlier structure fire and spread to nearby woods. KLRT-TV reports that the fire started about 11 a.m. in Sweet Home.
Firefighters took about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
No other structures were threatened.
