LITTLE ROCK — Dr. Johnny Moore was named the 13th president of Philander Smith College at a Friday afternoon press conference.

A Washington, Ark. native, Moore comes to the school after spending the past two years as executive vice president of student affairs at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas.
A 1989 Philander Smith graduate, Moore replaces outgoing school president Walter Kimbrough, who is leaving to take the same position at Dillard University in New Orleans.
Moore also held faculty positions at Indian River State College and East Arkanasas Community College in his career.
