Arkansas Democrat-Gazette/WILLIAM MOORE -- Arkansas' Devonta Abron works against Southeastern Louisiana State's Elgin Bailey Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

— Forward Devonta Abron will transfer from Arkansas, CBSSports.com reported Tuesday.

Abron, who just completed his freshman year with the Razorbacks, wants to transfer to a school closer to his hometown outside Dallas, according to the report.

The report stated Abron hoped to receive a NCAA waiver for immediate eligibility at his new school based on health issues in his family.

Abron averaged 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds while playing in all 32 games for the Razorbacks last season. He started 22 times.

As a senior at Seagoville High School, Abron was named a Parade third-team all-American.

FERDIE KACZKA Jackabbott says...

Here we go again. We just fired a Head Coach in football and last year we had to fire the Head BB coach, one of the reasons was a swinging door on players, now with a new coach this is continuing.
The sports program at the UAF lacks institutional control and is not being managed properly. The people of Arkansas are paying a lot of taxpayers dollars and the results are way below average in any metric you can measure.
