Herman Eaton, one of the officers who escorted a confidential informant he though was a drug trafficker across Helena-West Helena to the Arkansas-Mississippi bridge, in exchange for $500 cash, was sentenced to 16 months in Federal court after pleading guilty to two of the nine charges brought against him.

Eaton plead guilty to money laundering and extortion in February.

Eaton was remorseful when speaking to Judge J. Leon Holmes, asking only to be placed in the Federal prison in Millington, Tenn. so he could be close to his family.

Along with his prison sentence, Eaton was also sentenced to two years supervised release and cannot volunteer for or be employed by any form of law enforcement agency.

16 months for a cop dealing drugs or facilating the sale of drugs? A lot of drugs. Money laundering and extortion? 16 months? Really?

These drug facilitating sorry excuses for police officers should be given the same sentences as the drug dealers, as they are no better than them and in fact, are worse!!!

The police officers should be given harsher sentences than the dealers. Not only are they selling drugs, they are also blatantly using a public position to further their illegal activities. And they are being paid by taxpayer funds to enforce the very laws they are breaking.
