NLR police chase vehicle after traffic stop attempt

North Little Rock police pursued a vehicle in a car chase this afternoon, police say.

Officers attempted to make a traffic stop around 3:33 p.m. in North Little Rock, believing the driver did not have a license, police spokesman Sgt. Brian Dedrick said. The silver Mazda then fled.

The driver threw a pink and white bag off the I-30 bridge into the river during the chase, Dedrick said.

Authorities chased the vehicle into Little Rock, losing the car along 65th Street, Dedrick said.

Police later recovered the bag the suspect threw into the river. Dedrick said the bag contained one-to-two pounds of marijuana and an unknown amount of codeine.

NLR is beginning to look and sound like a war zone. Main street from roughly 8th to 22nd is becoming a hell hole.
