Boy in street leads to mother’s arrest

After her 9-year-old son was found walking through traffic on his way to a North Little Rock grocery store, the mother who sent him there unsupervised was arrested Friday, police reported.

About 10:30 a.m., officers spotted the boy crossing the street in the 800 block of West Pershing Boulevard. He had walked about a half mile from a Motel 6 at 400 W. 29th St., where his mother and three other boys - ages14, 13 and 8 - were staying.

Kenosha Bradley, 34, told officers that she “didn’t realize she could not send her 9-year-old to Kroger by himself,” according to an arrest report.

She was charged with second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Bradley had been wanted on outstanding warrants for unpaid fines and contempt of court.

She was being held in lieu of $2,865 bond at the Pulaski County jail late Friday.

Jacksonville driver charged with DWI

A Jacksonville woman who continued driving after her husband jumped from her vehicle and died in September was arrested Thursday, according to Arkansas State Police.

On Sept. 8, Brittany Hanks and her husband, Christopher Hanks, were traveling home on U.S. 67 in Jacksonville after a night of drinking, state police reported.

During an argument, Christopher Hanks exited the vehicle while it was still moving. His body was later found on the shoulder of the road. He was 22.

Though she later returned, Brittany Hanks initially didn’t stop when her husband jumped from the vehicle, according to state police.

After a criminal investigation, it was determined that she was drunk at the time.

The 28-year-old widow was arrested Thursday and charged with driving while intoxicated. She was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Friday.
