Jacklynn Murphy, 23, purportedly told her mother over the phone that she had killed her father, Gary Murphy, 53, according to police.

Her mother called police, and officers responded about 10 p.m. to a home at 11515 David O. Dodd Road. They found Gary Murphy's body inside on the floor. He had been stabbed multiple times.

Police spokesman Capt. Terry Hastings said Gary Murphy's body was wrapped in a blood-covered blanket when officers arrived. Investigators recovered a steak knife purportedly used in the stabbing, he said.

The father and daughter lived together at the residence, according to Hastings.

Jacklynn Murphy has a "history of calls" with police and was homeless in the past, he said. She was additionally charged with three counts of failure to appear after her arrest late Monday night.

Jacklynn Murphy did not give a statement to investigators. She was being held in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of bond late Tuesday.

The slaying was the 31st homicide of the year in Little Rock.
