Gravel Ridge man faces assault count

The Pulaski County sheriff's office arrested a Gravel Ridge man Wednesday on charges of aggravated assault and first-degree terroristic threatening in a November robbery, according to a report.

Kelvin Ready, 36, of 7701 Soto Lane, was arrested about 2 p.m. Wednesday at his house and transported to the Pulaski County jail, the report stated.

A sheriff's office report states that a deputy responded to Cumridge Lane and Maurice Street in northeast Pulaski County on Nov. 5 where the deputy contacted Riley Wicks, 56. According to the report, Wicks said Ready and an unidentified man arrived at his house earlier that morning, and Ready told Wicks that the car Wicks had worked on the day before had broken down on the interstate. Wicks placed his toolbox in the back of a truck driven by Ready and got in with Ready and the other man.

According to the report, Ready turned onto Maurice Street, stopped and forced Wicks out of the truck while threatening him with a machete. Wicks told the deputy the other man then hit him twice in the left side of his face, and Ready struck Wicks in the left knee with a 2-foot-long metal pipe. Wicks said Ready and the other man then left with Wicks' tools still in the back of the truck.

Wicks refused medical treatment at the scene.

Ready was not listed on the county jail roster Thursday night.

1 reported stabbed but only blood found

Little Rock police responded to a report of a stabbing Wednesday night but were unable to find either a victim or attacker.

According to a police report, officers were called to 1407 John Barrow Road around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday and found blood on the ground, though it was being washed away by the rain.

A witness told police he saw the victim and the attacker quarreling when he entered a business in the strip mall at the address. The witness said that when he walked back out he saw the victim's white shirt turning red from a stab wound in the abdomen. The witness said the attacker fled in a black Toyota Camry, and the injured man left in a blue sedan.

The report states that officers contacted a person who said the victim was his father, who had been stabbed by a former girlfriend.

Neither the contact's father nor the former girlfriend was found, and police said hospitals were contacted but reported no stabbing victims.
