Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema talks during Signing Day in the Rock on Feb. 6, 2014, at the Clear Channel Metroplex in Little Rock.

Although Arkansas’ 2014 recruiting class was described as “small” by coach Bret Bielema, he had a lot to say about the 24 signees the Razorbacks got for the upcoming season.

“It’s a small class,” Bielema said. “But it’s a class, with all those guys, that we’re very, very excited about.”

Of the incoming recruits, Bielema said that a point of emphasis was the defensive backfield. The Razorbacks signed five defensive backs, including heralded recruit Cornelius Floyd out of Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep Academy.

Bielema said he believes the five in-state recruits will address some of the team's needs in their respective areas and lauded North Little Rock running back Juan Day with praise. Day’s senior season was cut short by a knee injury, but Bielema said Day's recovery is on schedule to get him back on the field by next season.

Bielema was asked about getting into Miami and grabbing key players. In addition to Floyd, the Hogs signed Miami (Fla.) Northwestern wide receiver Jojo Robinson, Miami Killian defensive end Anthony Brown and Miami Norland receiver Kendrick Edwards. It’s a place that Bielema said he’s been going for a long time in his coaching career. Both Bielema and Ft. Lauderdale linebacker Randy Ramsey noted that groups of players such as the Florida recruits normally “want to be together” to be a part of building a program.
