NLR man punched officer, report says

A 37-year-old North Little Rock man remained in Pulaski County jail Saturday afternoon after punching a police officer in the face earlier that morning, police said.

A North Little Rock officer pulled over Christopher White, of 25 Grey Court Circle, after he drove through a stop sign, according to an arrest report.

White stopped his car, got out and then fled from the scene on foot, the report said.

When the officer caught up to White, White complied with the officer's orders to get on the ground but fought with the officer once he tried to handcuff him, the report said.

White punched the officer in the right side of his face, causing swelling and bruising, the officer wrote in the report. Then, White fled again before being caught by other officers.

According to the report, the other officers got White onto the ground, where he kicked at and fought with them until he was hit with pepper spray and arrested.

Police found two blunts in White's pants pockets, along with a counterfeit $20 bill.

White was charged with second-degree battery against an officer, possession of a controlled substance, fleeing and resisting arrest. He was served two felony warrants already out for him from the Pulaski County sheriff's office for failure to appear and probation revocation.
