Police: 1 dead, another in critical condition after shooting

One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting Saturday night, police say.

Police responded about 10:25 p.m. to 10312 Baseline Road after they received reports that two men were lying near the street, according to a Little Rock police report.

When they arrived, they found Angel Gonzalez, 30, and Uriel Costilla-Mata, 20, surrounded by a large amount of blood and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the report.

Costilla-Mata told police they had been shot while attempting to purchase a firearm from three men they met on Facebook. Gonzalez was in critical condition and unable to respond to medical staff’s questions.

Costilla-Mata told officers the men showed them a gun and began to fire at them before they stole their cash and fled in a white Cadillac, the report states.

Gonzales was transported to Baptist emergency room where he was pronounced dead. Costilla-Mata was taken to UAMS Medical Center in critical condition.

An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
