Gun pulled on man working security at church

A security guard at a Little Rock church told police two men who he believed were about to break into a car in the parking lot pulled a gun on him when he approached Monday night.

The 39-year-old victim said he was working security about 8:20 p.m. at Second Baptist Church at 700 Cumberland St. when he saw two men cut through the parking lot, stop at a parked Cadillac and start looking "around to see if anybody was watching," according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The security guard approached the two assailants and asked them what they were doing, the report said, and one of them pulled out a handgun and threatened to "blow [the guard's] brains out," the report said.

The guard stepped back, and the two men left heading south. Police searched the area but didn't make any arrests.

The gunman is described as a black man in his late teens who stood 5-foot-8 and wore a yellow shirt and black pants. The other assailant is said to be a black man in his early 20s who stood about 6-foot-1.

The guard said he believed he recognized the gunman as a former employee of a grocery store on Geyer Springs Road.
