State police Troop K Capt. Mark Allen said a trooper stopped a truck about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday driven by a cousin of the person of interest in the manhunt.

The person of interest, Kenno A. Forrest, 30, was a passenger in the vehicle. Forrest pushed his cousin from the truck and fled, authorities said. Allen said a short chase followed, but Forrest was apprehended.

Forrest is a suspect in an early morning theft at the Fountain Lake School District that led other schools in the area to lock their doors.

A Fountain Lake teacher who is a bus driver reported arriving on campus and finding someone driving a truck out of the school's bus barn, dragging a hose. The employee followed the truck after calling 911 and reported that the driver stopped and fired a shot at him.

During the pursuit, authorities said the suspect drove at officers who fired at his tires, and he then rammed a patrol vehicle and fled again.

An earlier news release from the Garland County sheriff's office said the department has active felony arrest warrants for Forrest, and the state Department of Community Correction has an absconder warrant for him.
