NLR man held after girlfriend shot

A North Little Rock man was arrested early Saturday morning after his girlfriend was shot in the head, according to an arrest report.

Shortly after midnight Friday, North Little Rock police were called to 824 W. 36th St., where Horace Macklin told officers a black man had shot his girlfriend, according to the report. The woman was transported to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock with a gunshot wound to the head.

After being interviewed by police, Macklin, 58, said he shot the woman, police said. He was arrested and charged with first-degree domestic battery. He was still listed on the Pulaski County jail roster Saturday night.

No information was immediately available on the woman's condition.
