LITTLE ROCK — Hillary Rodham Clinton is returning to the state where she served as first lady for 12 years to headline a fundraiser for the Arkansas Democratic Party.
The state Democratic Party announced Wednesday that the presidential hopeful and former secretary of state will headline the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on July 18 in North Little Rock. Though Republicans have made major gains in Arkansas, Clinton remains a popular figure among Democrats in the state where her husband served as attorney general and governor.
Clinton is headlining the dinner just a few months after lawmakers approved moving up the state's primaries from May to March next year. Supporters said the move would allow Arkansans to have a say in a race that features Clinton and former Gov. Mike Huckabee, who's seeking the GOP nomination.
