**Things to like

***Plenty to like

****Confident choice

1 Purse $27,000, 6 furlongs, 4-year-olds and up, claiming $20,000.

***MR. FUZZYBOTTOM has won three of his past four races on the main track and has finished no worse than second in six consecutive starts, and the Fair Grounds shipper has a strong record at Oaklawn. BROWNEYED BACHELOR splashed his way to victory in a $25,000 claiming race, and he has been very good since October and was claimed last out by a winning stable. ALMOST ENGLISH lost a late lead when second behind Browneyed Bachelor, and he was claimed by trainer Brad Cox, who will usually move a horse up.

2 Purse $20,000, 6 furlongs, 3-year-olds and up, Arkansas-bred, maiden claiming $12,500.

***NEED A ALIBI is the speed of the speed and is back in blinkers and dropping into a maiden claimer for the first time. OUR DOC TANNER contested the pace from start to finish in a clear second-place career debut performance, and he may not have to improve much to win. BIRTHDAY CASH was beaten by only a neck in a front-running debut effort, and he is another who is dangerous with typical second-out improvement.

3 Purse $22,500, 6 furlongs, fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up who have never won two races, claiming $15,000.

**WITCH ALERT is a front-running filly who exits an improved third-place finish, and she is close to the sharp form she showed last season at Prairie Meadows. RAVISHINGLY rallied to fourth in her return from a 12-month layoff, and she broke her maiden last winter at Oaklawn and the lightly raced mare was claimed by a top Oklahoma stable. EXPECT A PRIZE followed a maiden victory with a second-place finish at this condition, and she keeps regular rider Terry Thompson.

4 Purse $20,000, 6 furlongs, fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming $12,500. ****ANGEL LOVELY has consistently earned the field’s fastest Beyer Speed Figures, and she is dropping to the bottom of the local maiden ranks for high-percentage trainer Chris Richard. BRUSSEL SPROUT has not raced since July, but she finished her 2014 campaign with a second-place finish at Prairie Meadows and is half of a two-filly entry with the top selection. TIME FOR PARADING is a two-time beaten favorite who will be wearing blinkers for the first time and is moving from an outside to inside post.

***I AM MISS BROWN has finally drawn inside following two deceptively good second-place finishes, and new trainer Chris Richard has the services of the leading rider. BERRY KNOLL lost a clear lead into the stretch when finishing a close fourth in her return from a long layoff, and the Oaklawn horse-for-course figures to improve. GO GO LOLO was a multiple stakes winner last season, and she is taking a significant class drop after finishing seventh on a wet track in her return from a freshening.

**MOROCCAN BREW has not raced in more than 12 months, but he is the class of the field and has always raced well when fresh. CHATFIELD ROAD was overmatched and may not have cared for a wet track March 19, but he is more than good enough if ready to fire one of his better races for top connections. SHRADED EDGE was one-paced in his return from a 13-month layoff, but the 14-race winner has back class and may be overlooked at the betting windows.

7 Purse $67,000, 6 furlongs, 4-year-olds and up, allowance optional claiming.

****ALSVID is a multiple stakes-winning sprinter who is at the top of his game, and he is taking a significant drop into an optional claiming race. UNBRIDLED’S NOTE was beaten a head at a similar condition two races back, and he was left with too much to do when fourth in the recent Hot Springs. BREWING won the Bachelor and Gazebo last season at Oaklawn Park, but the exceptionally quick sprinter has not been as sharp in two races this season.

8 The Arkansas Breeders’. Purse $75,000, 1 1/16 miles, 3-year-olds and up who were bred in Arkansas.

***TRACE CREEK has won three career races at Oaklawn and was a beaten favorite in this same stake in 2014, but he is even better this season and deserves favoritism. PISTOLPACKINPENNY easily defeated statebred mares in a sprint stake March 6, and she may be sharp enough to defeat males. MALLARD’S BRO rallied from far back when winning this stake in 2014, and he is back at his best distance after a useful sprint tuneup.

**ORDINARY LOVE is an unraced filly with a series of encouraging works and trainer Helen Pitts wins with first-timers, and the filly drew into a soft maiden claiming field. STEAMNSTONE finished third in a “key” maiden race when making her 2015 debut but tired badly when close to a faster pace in her second start of the season. GIVEMYHEARTASMILE raced evenly in her career debut, but she is taking a slight drop in class and is adding blinkers for a winning stable.

Exotic wager possibilities

Arkansas Democrat-Gazette handicapper Rick Lee seeks out horses which make good “key” horses in multi-horse and/or multi-race wagers, commonly called exotic wagers.

The 50-cent Pick 4 starting in race two may be hittable without spending a small fortune. The first leg drew a large field of 11, but the outside two runners seem to have an edge. The second leg drew a small field but is a competitive sprint, and the third leg could be a “single” for some with the Midwest Thoroughbreds entry of Brussel Sprout and Angel Lovely. The final leg is another that may be covered with two or possibly three runners. The 50-cent late Pick 3 starts in race seven, which appears a two-horse race. The eighth race drew 10 state-bred runners and can be narrowed down to three or maybe fewer based on your opinion of Trace Creek. The final leg looks like the type of a race that can produce an upset winner.
