Zaziski SEC’s co-freshman of year

Arkansas gymnast Paige Zaziski was named the SEC co-freshman of the year Thursday.

Zaziski shared the award with Florida’s Kennedy Baker and became just the second Razorback to earn the conference’s top freshman honor. Amanda Wellick won it last season for Arkansas.

Zaziski won seven event titles this season, including four on the uneven bars, one on the balanced beam and two in the allaround. She set an Arkansas freshman record on the uneven bars with a 9.950. Zaziski was the only SEC freshman to compete as an all-arounder in every meet for her team and finished with a 39.125 or better in the all-around. Her personal best in the all-around is 39.450, which was the third-highest score by a freshman in the SEC this year.

Zaziski was joined by two other Arkansas teammates on the All-SEC team, Wellick and Heather Elswick.
