Benton man arrested on drug charges

A Benton man was arrested Tuesday after drugs, drug paraphernalia and a loaded firearm were found in his vehicle, police say.

About 1:08 p.m., an officer stopped Robert Granderson, 35, on Silica Heights Road for speeding, Benton Police Department spokesman Lt. Kevin Russell said in a news release.

While Granderson told the officer his driver's license was suspended, the officer found a pipe "commonly used to smoke illegal narcotics" and a loaded pistol in the vehicle, the release states.

Further investigation revealed that the pistol had been stolen from Little Rock and that Granderson was also in possession of methamphetamine, Russell said.

Granderson was arrested and transported to the Saline County jail, where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended driver's license, simultaneous possession of drugs and a firearm, unsafe driving, use of another person's property to facilitate a crime and theft by receiving, the release states.

Granderson was no longer listed Thursday afternoon on an online inmate roster for the Saline County jail.
