Wynne firefighter recovering after fire truck pins him at scene

WYNNE — The fire chief of the northeastern Arkansas city of Wynne says a firefighter is recovering at a Memphis hospital after being crushed by a fire truck.

The Jonesboro Sun reported that Rick Wimberley responded to a call Saturday in Parkin, driving his personal vehicle to the scene. He was pinned between his vehicle and a truck responding to the scene, as the driver misjudged the distance between the truck and Wimberley.

Wynne Fire Chief Lynn Blake said Wimberley's pelvis was fractured in four spots, but that he won't need surgery and was in "good spirits." He said Wimberley will be out several weeks.

Blake said the incident was an "incredibly unfortunate accident."
