UAMS to share patient reviews of physicians

LITTLE ROCK — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences is now displaying ratings and comments about its physicians online.

UAMS said a physician's rating will be posted online once he or she has at least 30 completed surveys from patients. UAMS said it's the first medical center in Arkansas to post the ratings online.

UAMS Chancellor Dr. Dan Rahn said the center has been surveying patients for years and that sharing the details online can help patients make better decisions about their health care.

Patients who are seen by a UAMS physician in an outpatient setting receive a survey on how the doctor communicated, listened and showed courtesy and respect toward them.

UAMS said positive and negative feedback will be posted online, unless it is libelous, profane or could jeopardize patient privacy.
