Police found Michael Gregory, 56, dead in Courtyard Apartments in the 2900 block of Autumn Avenue at 6:45 a.m. Monday, Capt. Joe Baker of the West Memphis Police Department said. Gregory had been shot, he said.

Baker said officers found items on Gregory that led them to a convenience store in West Memphis and a Wal-Mart on Winchester Road in Memphis. Detectives found video at both locations of Gregory with an unidentified man. The man with Gregory was wearing a black shirt, black shorts, black tennis shoes and a black rag on his head.

Baker said Gregory was driving a blue Chevrolet Blazer with no license plate and a spare tire on the back hatch. It appears the vehicle was taken after the shooting, Baker said.

Baker asked anyone with information to contact the West Memphis Police Department at (870) 735-1210 or Crittenden County Crimestoppers at (870) 732-4444.
