Geovanny Perez-Cruz, 18, of Springdale was given an initial court date of Jan. 27.

Perez-Cruz is accused of shooting 25-year-old Daniel Luna of Springdale in the upper arm at Wal-Mart at 4870 Elm Springs Road in Springdale the night of Oct. 9, a police report said.

Perez-Cruz and Luna were acquaintances, police said. A verbal confrontation between the two began inside the store, and Perez-Cruz shot Luna in the parking lot after the fight escalated, police said.

Police said surveillance footage showed four males arguing. A Hispanic male wearing a two-tone sweater and Nike shoes pulled a gun out of what appeared to be his sweater pocket and shot the victim.

Police said they found the gun used in the shooting.

Luna was treated at Washington Regional Medical Center and released.
