LITTLE ROCK — Republican state Rep. Kelley Linck has notified Gov. Asa Hutchinson that he will be resigning his elected position to take a job with the Arkansas Department of Human Services.

Hutchinson spokesman J.R. Davis confirmed Monday that the office has received a resignation letter from Linck, who serves as the chairman of the House Public Health, Welfare and Labor Committee.

DHS spokesman Amy Webb said that Linck will start June 13 as the department's chief of legislative and governmental affairs. She said the move is part of new Director Cindy Gillespie's organizational review.

Linck, who is from Flippin, has served in the House since 2011.

House Speaker Jeremy Gillam said he has spoken to Linck and has been preparing for his departure since Linck did not run for re-election this year.
