LOUISIANA TECH 10, UALR 6

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (14-23) scored five runs in the second, third and fourth innings Wednesday to take a 5-2 lead over Louisiana Tech (25-13), but the Bulldogs responded to score eight runs in the next three innings to earn a victory at Gary Hogan Field in Little Rock.

Louisiana Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Jonathan Washam, who doubled down the left-field line to start the game, scored on Brent Diaz's two-out RBI groundout.

UALR took the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a two-out rally. Nik Gifford scored on Cale Ridling's RBI double to tie the game at 1-1, then Ridling scored on Christian Reyes' single down the left-field line for a 2-1 lead.

Raphael Gladu hit an RBI single for the Bulldogs in the top of the third that tied the game at 2-2, but the Trojans retook the lead in the bottom of the inning. Dalton Thomas walked on four pitches, then advanced to third on Riley Pittman's double. Thomas scored on Cameron Knight's sacrifice fly to left field to take a 3-2 lead. After Gifford struck out swinging, Pittman advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on Zach Baker's RBI double to increase the lead to 4-2. Hunter Owens added an RBI double to left-center field in the fifth inning that gave the Trojans a 5-2 lead.

The Bulldogs took the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning. Washam doubled down the left-field line to start the inning, and after Parker Bates drew a full-count walk, both men moved up a base after a balk. Dalton Skelton hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored Washam to cut the lead to 5-3. Zack Hamilton was hit by a pitch on a 2-2 count to put two runners on base, and Washam flied out to left field in his second at-bat of the inning. That led to a pitching change as Chandler Fidel came in for Carter Brown. Fidel promptly gave up an RBI single to Gladu that cut the lead to 5-4 and was replaced by Ryan Lemoine, who gave up a three-run home run to Diaz to give the Bulldogs a 7-5 lead.

Washam finished 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored for Louisiana Tech, while Skelton was 2 for 3 and Diaz was 2 for 4. Ridling was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI to lead UALR, while Gifford was 2 for 5 with 1 run scored. Reliever Kyle Griffen (2-1) got the victory after allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits with 1 walk and 1 strikeout over 22/3 innings. Fidel (2-5) took the loss for UALR.
