Cory Cox, a senior at Haas Hall Academy, signed a national letter of intent to play tennis at Christian Brothers University in Memphis.

Cox (5-foot-10) was a three-time all-state selection for the Mastiffs. He was the 3A-1 District tennis champion in singles last fall.

"I chose Christian Brothers University because academically it was the best opportunity for my future and I am very excited to play tennis at the next level for a Division 2 school," Cox said.

Three Lady Wildcats sign with Johnson County CC in Kansas

Juella Brown, Juliza Brown and Dachelle Terry signed Friday to continue their basketball careers at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas.

Terry, originally from Fort Smith, scored in double figures three times in 7A-West play, including a 13-point night at Bentonville West. Juliza Brown's best performance came in a win at Springdale High when she scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds.

Juella Brown scored a league-best 11 points at West in a win. The twins each averaged five points and five rebounds per game while Terry added six points and five rebounds a night.

"Coach Green has been a big outlet and supporter of us," Juella Brown said. "We expect a lot of playing time. They play aggressive and are a fast-break team, so it should be fun. I'm happy it's not too far away, but I'll like having my distance to be able to grow up."

Whaley signs letter of intent with Henderson State

Har-Ber senior forward Karrington Whaley signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia on Friday in Wildcat Arena.

Whaley averaged 6 points and 4 rebounds per game as the Lady Wildcats made an appearance in the 2017 state tournament under first-year Har-Ber coach Jaime Green. Whaley will soon become teammates with former Fayetteville Lady Purple'Dogs Pink and Blue Jones.

"I think (Henderson coach) Jill Thomas got a steal and a great project. I think she'll be the one to get the best out of her," Green said. "When she runs into grown women, she'll get better and better and better."

Whaley scored a season-high 16 points in Har-Ber's conference opener against Rogers High in January.
