Brian C. Waters
Where I live: I split my time between my houseboat on Beaver Lake and my house just south of Fayetteville.
Occupation: My wife, Sharon, and I own Open Door Cigars and the Sweet7 Lounge in Fayetteville. We opened the lounge after I retired as a lieutenant from the Fayetteville Police Department.
My favorite space is: Sitting in a comfortable chair on the front porch of my houseboat, on the water, smoking a premium hand rolled cigar and reading a book.
Why? The front porch of the boat is that place where I find peace and quiet. It's a great place to relax and read if I'm by myself, or grill steaks and chat with friends. It's just a place of perfection. After a career in law enforcement and now my living life while trying to figure out the business world, I love having a place so different and so separate from my work environment. The cigar shop is a great place to visit with clients and friends, but there's always something there that requires my attention. It's nice to have a place where I can be still with no distractions.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: I don't think I'd change the space, but I'd like to have a little more time to spend on the houseboat. Sharon and I love working and we love our shop, but we do work a lot of hours. Finding a little more free time on the boat to spend together or entertain our friends would be great.
