Where I Live: Twin Falls Estate in Farmington

Occupation: retired, and spending many volunteer hours with Altrusa International of Fayetteville. Currently serving as president and ASTRA@FHS sponsor.

My favorite space is: my art studio

Why? My studio is a place that lets me escape and express my emotions and dreams. It's a place where I can step outside my box and explore the use of many mediums and creativity. It's a place to not judge, but see the beauty in what is in front of me. Imperfections don't exist. What appears on the canvas speaks for itself.

I love working with acrylics and charcoal. Cleanup is easy and odor is minimal. With my volunteer time with Altrusa of Fayetteville, being able to quickly clean up and go make these mediums an ideal choice.

I really have only had time to paint since I retired. My painting is just a hobby for now, and I give my pieces to family and a few friends. I have also donated a few pieces for auction to my Altrusa group. It's nice to know my sold paintings go for a good cause. Most of my paintings depict places my husband and I have traveled, so they are not just paintings but memories.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Create a duplicate space in my backyard. That's where you'll find me when I'm not in my studio.
