Rudolph and his family get a visit from Santa Claus in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical, onstage this week at Fayetteville’s Walton Arts Center.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical, a live-action stage show based on the perennial TV animated classic, will be onstage at 10 a.m. and 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday at Fayetteville's Walton Arts Center, 495 W. Dickson St.

Bluegrass Monday

West Tennessee-based bluegrass band No Time Flatt -- Patrick Cupples, bass and vocals; Kevin Wright, guitar and vocals; Becky Weaver, fiddle; Kevin Keen, mandolin; and Steve Moore, banjo and vocals -- will perform for Jonesboro public radio station KASU-FM. 91.9's Bluegrass Monday series, 7 p.m. Monday at the Collins Theatre, 120 W. Emerson St., Paragould. The station will literally "pass the hat" to pay the group; suggested donation is $5 per person. Wonderful theater

Fayetteville company TheatreSquared will go "on the air" with It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play, Joe Landry's adaptation -- as a 1940s radio broadcast in front of a studio audience -- of the classic 1946 Frank Capra film, opening Friday and running 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 31 at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios, 505 W. Spring St., Fayetteville. Additional performances: 2 p.m. Dec. 22 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 26. There is no evening performance Christmas Eve (Dec. 24).

Complimentary hot chocolate and cookies will be part of Holiday Eve Celebration Performances on Dec. 24 and 31; Pure Joy Ice Cream will provide custom, hand-crafted ice cream flavors at every December Saturday and Sunday matinee.

UCA bands

The University of Central Arkansas Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Reynolds Performance Hall, UCA, 201 Donaghey Ave., Conway. The Wind Ensemble will perform Ecstatic Fanfare by Steven Bryant, Centra-fuge by Charles L. Booker Jr. (commissioned by UCA for the school's 2007 centennial), Dionysiaques by Florent Schmitt and Concerto for Alto Sax and Band by Paul Creston, with Landon Cole, winner of UCA's Wind Ensemble Concerto competition, as soloist. Ricky Brooks will conduct with graduate conducting student Mykala Parker on the podium for Ecstatic Fanfare.

The Symphonic Band will play Bernstein Mini Suite, conductor Brantley Douglas' compilation of music by Leonard Bernstein; Estampie by Vaclav Nelhybel; and Four Scottish Dances by Malcolm Arnold. Stardust ballroom

Musical greetings

The University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Chorale, Women's Chorus, Jazz Catz, Opera and Musical Theatre workshop, Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble and Symphonic Band perform secular and sacred music at the university's Season's Greetings Concert, 7 p.m. Wednesday at ArcBest Corp. The Arkansas Arts Council has named the recipients of the 2018 Governor's Arts Awards, recognizing individuals, organizations and corporations for outstanding contributions to the arts in Arkansas:

An independent panel of arts professionals from around the state selected the recipients from nominations by the public. A ceremony in the spring (date and location TBA) will honor the winners, who will receive an original work of art created by artist Patricia Holifield of Little Rock.
