CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — A black man who was beaten at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Va., has surrenders to police after being charged in the confrontation.

Charlottesville police said in a statement that 20-year-old DeAndre Harris turned himself in Thursday morning and was served a warrant charging him with unlawful wounding.

The statement says Harris was taken before a magistrate and released on an unsecured bond.

Photos and video that were widely shared online showed Harris being beaten by a group of men inside a parking garage. In addition to Harris, three men have been charged in the attack, including Arkansan Jacob Scott Goodwin, 22.

Harris' attorney has said that Harris did nothing wrong and that authorities don't have probable cause to charge him.

I hope that this bogus charge against the victim is dismissed by the prosecutor ASAP.

PM: How do you know this is a bogus charge? Were you there when it happened? If all are guilty, all should be charged.

It's called video and facts.

Bad taste is being a racist and demeaning somebody who was beaten for being black.

Someone went to the authorities and complained that Mr. Harris assaulted them that day. The authorities verified the facts they were presented with and then issued a warrant for Mr. Harris to be arrested. That is what CNN is reporting, anyway - "It happened after an alleged victim, Harold Ray Crews, went to the local magistrate's office and asked for a warrant for Harris' arrest, police said. A detective verified the facts and issued a warrant, police said."
Nobody claims that this is related to the incident where he was beaten, but the possibility remains that he started something, and then the friends of the people he assaulted caught up with him later (and were caught on video).
None of the participants on either side of this are admirable or praiseworthy. Racists and white supremacists sicken me, and so do antifa thugs. Likely there was a great deal of vitriol on both sides, and violence going both ways. From what CNN reported,

PM: Why did he "surrender" if he was the "victim"? Doesn't make sense.
