Third arrest made in fatal carjacking

A third arrest has been made in a deadly carjacking at a central Arkansas apartment complex, the Pulaski County sheriff's office said Friday.

Jackie Andrew Jackson III, 28, was arrested on a charge of capital murder in the killing of 29-year-old James Ward, who was found fatally shot at Chapel Ridge apartments Sept. 28.

The apartment complex at 5900 McCain Park Place is just outside the North Little Rock city limits.

Authorities said Jackson, a Jacksonville resident, was arrested on a warrant Friday and admitted to participating in Ward's robbery and slaying.

Earlier this month, authorities arrested Jeffrey King, 27, of Jacksonville and Terry Miller Jr., 26, of Cabot on charges of capital murder in the case.

Records show all three men were being held without bail at the Pulaski County jail Friday.

Men rob 3 women at gunpoint in LR

Two men entered a Little Rock home and robbed three women inside at gunpoint Thursday afternoon, according to a police report.

A 39-year-old woman told police that two gunmen "pushed their way" into her home in the 9000 block of Chicot Road, where her 20-year-old daughter and her son's 18-year-old girlfriend were in the living room.

The woman, who was lying down in her bedroom, said she heard her daughter scream, "Mamma, they are trying to kill us!"

She ran into the living room, where her daughter was reportedly sitting on the couch with one of the men holding a small silver gun to her head. When she tried to get between her daughter and the gun, the other man pointed a gun at her, the report said.

"Give us all the money you have," the men reportedly told her.

One man held a gun to her head while she walked around the house trying to gather any money she had, finding $5 in bills and coins in a living room table drawer, the report said. When she handed over the money, the men fled on foot toward Preston Road, authorities said. Her daughter and her son's girlfriend left to get help, the woman told police.

Just after 4 p.m., officers were called back to the home on Chicot Road. There, a 27-year-old man whom the 39-year-old woman accused in the robbery said he was there to "defend himself," according to the report.

He was taken into custody on a failure to appear warrant but had not been charged in the robbery as of Friday afternoon, police said.

Inmate charged in 2016 LR shooting

A Nevada County jail inmate was charged Friday in a shooting outside a Little Rock liquor store last year.

Trent Arsenio Porter, 30, was charged with aggravated assault in the shooting of Leslie Dillard.

Police found a bloodied Dillard, 40, the morning of Dec. 10 in an alley across from Pic-Pac Liquor at 4407 W. 12th St., according to a police report. Dillard of Mabelvale reportedly told police he'd been in an argument with a man in the parking lot. He said he walked away from the confrontation and the man shot him.

An arrest report filed Friday provides new details on the shooting. The report says Dillard was shot "while fleeing from a green caravan that attempted to run him over." Police identified Porter as the caravan driver, but wrote in the report that he "could not be identified as the shooter at this time."

Porter remained in the Nevada County jail late Friday. He was awaiting transfer to the Arkansas Department of Correction.

Court records show Porter negotiated a guilty plea to drug, theft and firearms charges this year and was sentenced to eight years in prison with two years suspended.

Only $2 bill stolen in eatery break-in

A Little Rock eatery was burglarized early Thursday by thieves who broke through the front door and made off with a $2 bill, according to a police report.

Officers responded to an alarm at Ali Baba Mediterranean Restaurant and Market at 3400 S. University Ave. shortly after midnight Wednesday to find that the front doors had been broken.

The only thing missing was a $2 bill, the owner told police.

The owner told officers that he had been notified the business' electricity had been turned off about 45 minutes before the alarm sounded, disabling the security camera. Officers reportedly found one smeared fingerprint on the electric meter and two prints on the control panel to the alarm system.

A 16-year-old boy told police he saw two men running from the area -- one heading south and one heading north -- several minutes before officers arrived, the report said.

Restaurant's till holding $2 stolen

A thief stole a cash register containing $2 and damaged property inside a restaurant early Thursday in west Little Rock, police said.

Officers with the Little Rock Police Department responded shortly before 5 a.m. to The Pantry, 11401 N. Rodney Parham Road, in reference to a burglary that happened about 30 minutes before.

The thief broke the restaurant's glass front door to gain entry before stealing a cash register containing $2, damaging an office door and rummaging through cabinets, according to a report.

The Pantry's owner told officers that his alarm company called around 4:30 a.m. and said motion was detected at the business.

An officer patrolling the area observed an unoccupied 2013 Nissan Altima parked in a nearby parking lot, the report said. Police said its driver left around the time of the burglary.
