Arrest made in Arkansas fire that destroyed 16 units at apartment complex, sheriff's office says

Authorities say they have arrested a 23-year-old man in a fire that destroyed 16 units at an Arkansas apartment complex Saturday night.

In a news release Monday, the Faulkner County sheriff’s office said arson charges were pending against Carlon Ricks. Investigators believe he lived at Queens Manor, the Mayflower apartment complex that began burning shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday night, according to the release.

The American Red Cross and Mayflower Elementary School were reportedly called to aid residents displaced by the fire.

As of Monday afternoon, Ricks was being held at the Faulkner County jail. No bail had been set.

The investigation is ongoing.
