Police: Man stops would-be robber in Little Rock's Heights neighborhood, blocks vehicle with mower

A man stopped a would-be robber from stealing two backpack leaf blowers while he tended to a lawn Friday morning in Little Rock's Heights neighborhood, he told police.

Officers were called around 10:50 a.m. to 5700 Cantrell Road, the listed address for Calvary Baptist Church, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

A 33-year-old man affiliated with Perfect Places of Alexander said that after traveling to the front of the property, he saw a black male with dreads in the back of his work truck.

According to authorities, the would-be robber carried a backpack blower to a bronze 2003 Chevrolet Impala and placed it in back seat.

The 33-year-old then pulled his mower in front of the would-be robber's vehicle and told the robber to put the backpack leaf blower back, at which point a gun was shown to the victim, police said.

When the lawn service employee said he would not call police if the leaf blower was returned, the would-be robber took the item out of the vehicle. He also removed a second leaf blower and placed it on the ground before driving away, officers noted.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
