Wal-Mart adopts Facebook's Workplace

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. has signed up to use Facebook's Workplace, a comprehensive social networking platform designed for businesses.

The Bentonville-based retailer joins more than 14,000 companies to incorporate the tool into its business in the past 10 months, according to Workplace Vice President Julien Codorniou. Wal-Mart is the nation's largest private employer and has about 2.3 million workers worldwide.

Codorniou said the platform is already helping to bring Wal-Mart's workforce closer together. Company leaders are using live features to connect directly with workers, while employees are using the social network to collaborate and manage projects. Sam's Club workers also are using the tool to share photos of in-store product displays.

Wal-Mart added Workplace to complement other tools already being used within the company, according to a spokesman.
