PREP BASEBALL

Pittsburg, Kan. 6, Rogers Heritage 4

The War Eagles scored three runs in the top of the seventh, but still lost in nonconference baseball Thursday.

Garrison Carroll drove in two runs for Heritage (3-15), which trailed 5-0 after five innings. Ben Pollock took the loss, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits over four innings. He struck out four and walked two.

Lavaca 4, Danville 3

The Golden Arrows (10-3) jumped to a 4-0 lead after two innings and held on for the win Thursday.

Jordan Houpt went 3-for-4, while Darven Gill added two hits and drove in a run for Lavaca. Jimmy Hall pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings of relief for the win.

Charleston 7, Mansfield 4

The Tigers rallied from a three-run deficit to edge Mansfield on Thursday despite committing five errors.

Drew Dolley was 4-for-4 with a double and three runs scored for Charleston. Brett Ward was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, and Brayden Ross was 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Greenwood 6, Farmington 5

The Bulldogs held off Farmington to claim a one-run win Thursday.

The Cardinals rallied in the seventh inning, getting a lead-off single from Drew Sturdeon, who scored on Logan Bobak's single, but Greenwood (21-3) was able to hold on at the end with Connor Noland getting the final out.

Noland and Brandon Woolsey had two hits each for Greenwood. Noland and Jackson Webb drove in two runs each.

Sturgeon was 2-for-3 and drove in a run for Farmington and Evan Shoffit added a two-run triple.

Bryant 7, Fort Smith Northside 4

The Grizzlies put up four runs in the first inning but failed to score again, and Bryant rallied for five runs in the fifth inning.

Jackson Scrivner and Grant Johnson had two hits each for Northside, and Bobby Rauch drove in two runs.

Prairie Grove 10, Gentry 6

The Tigers used a five-run second inning to earn a win Thursday on the road.

Kyle Fidler was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Prairie Grove. Cole Simmons was 2-for-3, and Cole Verz drove in two runs.

Jacob Lothes belted a three-run homer for Gentry.

Conway 10, Fort Smith Southside 2

The Wampus Cats turned up the offense and rolled over Fort Smith Southside in 7A-Central action.

Reed Hughes was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Conway, and Jordan Wicks was 2-for-3.

James Hicks pitched five innings and allowed four hits to earn the win. Jamison Griffin took the loss for the Mavericks.

Jake Melton was 2-for-3 for Southside.

BOYS SOCCER

Decatur 2, Gentry 1 (PKs)

Jimmy Mendoza scored the fourth and decisive penalty kick as Decatur claimed a 4A-1 Conference win at home Thursday against Gentry.

William Barrios had the only goal in regulation for Decatur (6-2), scoring in the first half. Barrios, Roger Hernandez and Alexis Gramajo also scored penalty kicks for the Bulldogs, while Sebastian Perez was solid in his goalkeeper role.

Scranton 7, Charleston 5

A four-run seventh inning lifted the Lady Rockets past Charleston on Thursday.

Amber Fox was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to lead the Lady Rockets. Jessica Barrt was also 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Gracie Blaschke and Rachel Siebenmorgan had two hits each.

Sierra Montgomery was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for Charleston.

Gentry 11, Providence Academy 5

Randi Jo Bolinger and Raegan Jude drove in three runs each to lead the Lady Pioneers to a nonconference win.

Meledy Owens and Harley Stanfield each belted triples for Gentry.

Lincoln 7, Huntsville 1

Paige Umberson scattered six hits and struck out five to lead the Lady Wolves.

Kinley Webb led a 19-hit attack for Lincoln, going 4-for-4 from the nine-hole spot. Hollie Webb was 3-for-3. Seven of Lincoln's nine batters had multiple hits.
