U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton answers questions posed Thursday by a panel of Arkansas Democrat-Gazette staff members. He spoke on a range of topics, including the proposed space force, tariffs, the U.S. Supreme Court vacancy, and the president’s tweets and relationship with the media.

U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton, an Army veteran who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, raised doubts Thursday about the need for a sixth branch of the armed services to defend the country's interests in space.

Cotton has consistently shown he is essentially Trump's lap dog and will pretty much dance around any subject that might anger the president if Cotton showed some spine. Take for example, his comment on trade. At a time when AR farmers are taking hits because of the trade war, Cotton pussyfoots around the issue with some BS about Trump not wanting tariffs. The bottom line is labor is expensive in the US and Americans want cheap goods, plain and simple. Do the math on that equation and see how this is going to work out.
...
With regards to the "Space Force" hair brained idea of Trump, Cotton again tried to avoid angering the idiot in the White House. Cotton said, "The Space Force could also be "a service within the Air Force, like the Marine Corps is nested within the Navy." Gee, Tom. How about you Google up Air Force Space Command and see what comes up. It's been around for a while. The AR delegation has to be one of the most dense delegation on the Hill.

The way Sen. Cotton talks about marijuana reminds me of Republicans who once said that tobacco smoke is harmless. As the 'Big Tobacco' industry shoveled money into Republican politicians' reelection campaigns, Republicans stood proud and tall with the tobacco industry, to the point that they lied and said tobacco was safe and harmless. But because there is no 'Big Marijuana' to give them money, Republicans are against legalization of marijuana. Note that here in Arkansas, Republican politicians' family members are involved in legal medical marijuana operations. Someday, I predict the Republican Party will be among the staunchest defenders of 'Big Marijuana,' once its big enough to help them.

The administration will not be happy with Cotton’s dissent. The space force this nation needs is more space between right wing nuts and proper adults to effectively and progressively lead this nation back to the forefront of example. No more unfit and unable republicans.

I'm hoping that Tommy will be their first recruit, they can shoot him out into space on a thirty year mission to find aliens.

Usually Cotton is at least as loony as Trump, but I have to agree with him that we don't need a Space Force. The question is, will he cave to Trump on the Space Force while pushing so many things he agrees with Trump on, like immigration and Iran?

I'm curious what the "negative side-effects" of easing the pain of a terminally ill family member with medical marijuana are.

Why nothing on immigration, separating children, the 1000+ children who are still separated and unaccounted for? Or is he still opposed to chain migration now that his immigrant wife’s parents are now citizens via the program? Nothing on Russia or NK? Because Lockwood is Cotton’s water boy who would never ask a tough question.

RBear...............Tom Cotton is an " under achiever" ?

In the military and in his political career he has accomplished way more than YOUR liberal boy ( Clarke Tucker) ever will in his lifetime !

Being a Nancy Pelosi lap dog wannabe isn't much of an accomplishment for Clarke Tucker to brag about.

fake there is NO evidence of Tucker having anything to do with Pelosi and he has even stated MANY times he will not vote for her. However, you can't seem to get two facts straight to even understand that. But that's to be expected.

Yes, every time I've heard Cotton speak or interview (and I heard him in person on Wednesday) he's not really said much. He's pretty much an underachiever. As I said, I've seen Democrats in TX accomplish MORE in this Republican Congress than anything from the AR delegation.
...
Cotton just likes to see himself on TV and so far that's been about it. Looking at his record in Congress, he doesn't have that impressive a record. In fact, he spends more time talking on TV and playing cozy with Trump than taking care of Arkansans.

I actually considered that this wasn't too bad, considering that it was Tom Cotton. I generally don't think highly of him, but he is correct. Space operations should be nested within the Air Force command, not a separate agency. I disagree with him and the administration about Iran, considering that unilateral sanctions won't work. He needs to get over his "biased media" thinking and realize that they are just reporting exactly what Trump says and tweets. Anyway, it was the first interview in a while where he sounded at least partially intelligent.

Trump heard there were ‘aliens’ in space so it’s surprising he wants a Space Force instead of a Space ICE.

Tired of the government telling me what kind of mood I can be in or how much pain I have to be in.
I am 73 and will smoke marijuana if I damn well want to.
Tom, wake up and smell the burn toast, pot is everywhere in Arkansas and you can't keep anyone from finding it.
There is enough empty space between Tom's ears to house the entire space force for years to come.

OMG, Stephen King, the horror genre author, posted on Twitter about this and it spawned numerous, many hilarious memes. My favorite is one of Trump and his cronies in space suits with the caption, “Space Force...In space, no one can hear you lie.” Hilarious. There are many others.

This was just to get this administrations attention that he is tired of brown nosing and not having anything to claim as a step up to a new and higher position. Tom sold his soul the day he won the election and has been selling out Arkansas every since.....
They will make Tom Head General Space Cadet and he will wear it proudly
