Gift of car to Little Rock UPS employee who walked 11 miles to work catches Bill Clinton's attention

The viral story of a Little Rock UPS employee's new ride from colleagues who discovered he was making an 11-mile-long walk to work has caught the attention of former President Bill Clinton.

Trenton Lewis, 21, trekked to his 4 a.m. shift on foot for about seven months before his colleagues found out he’d been without a vehicle, CNN reported.

Co-workers then reportedly secretly rallied, raising nearly $2,000 toward a 2006 Saturn Ion.

In a tweet Saturday, Clinton spoke in admiration of Lewis’ story and offered free dining at 42 Bar and Table, the restaurant in Little Rock's Clinton Presidential Center.

“Mr. Lewis, who don’t you come by the @ClintonCenter and I’ll treat you, Karmen, and your co-workers to a meal,” the former president wrote.

A Facebook Live video posted Feb. 3 shows Lewis, who believed he was at a meeting, receiving the keys to his vehicle and sitting in the driver’s seat.

“I really do like this car. This is my first car,” Lewis is heard saying, repeatedly thanking his co-workers. “I appreciate it.”
