An Arkansas man's losing lottery ticket eventually earned him a $600,000 prize, officials say.

David Phillips of Trumann won in the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery’s Play It Again drawing, according to news release. Phillips, who reportedly constructs metal buildings for a living, told lottery officials that he's not sure if his boss believed him when he asked for Tuesday off to claim his prize.

He reportedly plays the lottery every day and always hoped to take his mother on a cruise if he won big, the release states, but she died about a year ago.

“I’ve had a lot of bad luck lately,” Phillips was quoted as saying, “so I’m very thankful, very blessed.”

The Trumann resident said he enters his non-winning tickets into the Play It Again drawing using the lottery's app. According to the lottery's website, more than 30 scratch-off games are eligible to be entered in the drawing.
