A Hot Springs man sought in a shooting at a park that injured a 21-year-old in 2016 has surrendered, police said.
The Hot Springs Sentinel-Record reported that Jaquez Damien Walker Jones, 20, was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon on a first-degree battery charge.
The March 31, 2016, shooting reportedly left Christopher Davis, 21, with gunshot wounds to his buttocks and left shin.
Officers responded to a call that day shortly after noon at Chattanooga Park, 500 Chattanooga St., according to an affidavit cited by the newspaper.
Jones reportedly met at the park to settle a disagreement, and an argument ensued that led to the shooting. He told officers that "Jaquez" had shot him before he was transported to a nearby hospital, the Sentinel-Record reported.
Investigators issued a warrant for Jones’ arrest and later learned that he had been arrested in Indianapolis on an armed robbery charge.
Jones was sentenced to five years in prison in Indiana and, after being paroled there a few days ago, returned to Hot Springs and surrendered, the newspaper reported.
