Crash near Marion kills Memphian, 65

A 65-year-old Memphis man died after his pickup crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle on a rain-drenched Arkansas road Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The crash happened around 3:10 p.m. as Michael Evans was traveling east on U.S. 64 about 5 miles east of Marion, according to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report.

Evans lost control of his 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, causing it to cross the centerline and hit a westbound 2014 Lexus LS 460, according to the report.

Evans died as a result of the crash, state police said. One other person was listed as being hurt, though the report didn't identify the person or note the extent of the injuries.
