UPDATE:

A man who had been arrested on multiple felony warrants before he escaped from an Arkansas patrol vehicle earlier this week has been recaptured, authorities said.

Cleburne County Sheriff Chris Brown said Ronald Long Jr. was arrested Wednesday morning in a "joint effort" with the sheriff's office, a probation and parole response team and the U.S. Marshals Service. Online records indicated he remained in the Cleburne County jail Thursday morning.

Long and another person were taken into custody during a traffic stop near Hopewell on Sunday.

"While deputies were searching the vehicle, Long managed to escape from the backseat of the patrol car where he was being held, fleeing on foot," Brown wrote in a previous statement.

A man wanted on multiple felony warrants escaped from custody after he was arrested during a traffic stop Sunday night, authorities said.

Cleburne County Sheriff Chris Brown said in a statement that deputies recognized Ronald Long Jr. inside a green Ford Thunderbird before they stopped the vehicle near Hopewell.

Long and another person in the car were taken into custody, Brown wrote, though the statement didn't indicate if either suspect was handcuffed.

"While deputies were searching the vehicle, Long managed to escape from the backseat of the patrol car where he was being held, fleeing on foot," Brown wrote.

A dispatcher said on Monday morning that the search for Brown was ongoing.

The statement didn't detail what charges Long faces that prompted the warrants. The dispatcher said no further information would be released before Tuesday.
