2 hunters rescued after boat capsizes on Arkansas River

Two duck hunters were rescued by other outdoorsmen after their boat capsized Tuesday morning on the frigid Arkansas River, authorities said.

The Faulkner County sheriff's office and Arkansas Game and Fish Commission were called around 9 a.m. to the Palarm Creek access area off Arkansas 365.

The two hunters experienced mechanical problems with their boat. As they tried to get the motor running, the boat capsized and ended up on a sandbar, sheriff's office spokesman Adam Bledsoe said.

Bledsoe said one hunter was knocked out of the boat while the other ended up on land.

Both were rescued by fellow duck hunters nearby on the Arkansas River, according to authorities. No one was injured.

Temperatures were in the teens at the time of the rescue effort, which lasted up to 30 minutes.
