Power outages in the Little Rock area shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018, according to Entergy Arkansas.

The number of power outages in the state dropped below 20,000 Sunday as crews continued to restore power to parts of the state, about a day after storms blew through, Entergy Arkansas reported.

Afternoon restoration times have been set for areas of western Pulaski County: 2 p.m. for parts of west Little Rock and 6 p.m. for the Ferndale and Northpoint areas, according to the company's outage map.

Around 1:30 p.m., around 18,400 customers were still in the dark. The bulk of those power failures — nearly 15,000 — were in Pulaski County.

The utility said about 2,000 miles of distribution line was either damaged or destroyed statewide. More than 130 power poles were also said to have been broken in storms that traversed the area Friday night into Saturday.

About 300 out-of-state linemen, primarily from Louisiana and Texas, responded to aid in power restoration, Entergy spokeswoman Kerri Case said.

An additional 200 workers worked to clear vegetation and about 120 others were determining the cause of outages.

Case said that nearly 63,500 customers were in the dark statewide around 5:30 a.m. Saturday, marking the peak of the power failures.

In North Little Rock, the city's Electric Department reported "scattered outages" in its service area Sunday morning.
