3 motorcyclists killed in separate wrecks on 1 day in Arkansas, authorities say

Three motorcyclists were killed in separate crashes Sunday in Arkansas, state police said.

In Pulaski County, 62-year-old William Wade Allen of North Little Rock was killed after his Harley-Davidson traveled off Arkansas 365 North around 8 p.m. and hit a utility pole.

Police noted that Allen "lost control" of the motorcycle.

Around 4:10 p.m. that day, 22-year-old Justin H. Waldroop of Fort Smith died after losing control of his westbound Suzuki motorcycle in the 6400 block of Rye Hill Road in Fort Smith, another report states.

Authorities say the motorcycle was traveling at a "high rate of speed" when it struck the passenger side of an eastbound Toyota trying to turn into a driveway.

Waldroop died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, according to authorities. Another person traveling on the Suzuki, 21-year-old Christina Swanson of Fort Smith, was listed as hurt.

Also injured were three people in the Toyota, including 60-year-old driver Lisa C. Roland of Van Buren. The report listed the injured passengers as 28-year-old April Roland of Van Buren and 29-year-old Amy Smith of Sallisaw, Okla.

Another crash shortly after 4 p.m. on Arkansas 141 in Jonesboro killed 54-year-old Daniel Ray Cox of Bay, according to a preliminary report.

Police say a southbound Jeep drove into the path of Cox's northbound Honda motorcycle while trying to turn onto Craighead County Road 780. The Jeep's driver was not identified.

In all three wrecks, the weather was described as clear and roads were said to be dry.

At least 211 people have died this year in crashes on Arkansas roads, according to preliminary figures.
