A 43-year-old director at the Arkansas Heart Hospital was elected to represent District 10 on the Pulaski County Quorum Court on Tuesday night.

The runoff primary election was between two Democrats: Barry D. Jefferson and Robert Green.

The unofficial results, with 22 precincts reporting, were:

Jefferson 187

Green 96

Green is a 57-year-old minister who was first elected to the Quorum Court, the county’s legislative body, in 1997. Reached by phone, he said he “prays” Jefferson will represent the constituents well.

Jefferson said he’s excited to get started. There are no Republican opponents in the November general election, so he’ll take over after Green steps down in December.

Justices of the Peace are elected to two-year terms and paid a stipend for each meeting they attend.
