Arkansas elementary school student walks away from playground, later found in woods, district says

An Arkansas student who walked away from her elementary school’s playground was later found in a wooded area with minor scratches and cuts, officials said.

On its Facebook page, the Mountain Pine School District said that a student "snuck out" of the playground and entered a wooded area behind it around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday.

The district reportedly notified the Garland County sheriff’s office and parents at the time of the incident.

Authorities and staff searched the school’s property and surrounding areas, the post states.

About 20 minutes later, the girl was found about a quarter-mile from Mountain Pine Elementary School, according to the sheriff's office. She was treated for “minor scratches and abrasions" by the school's nurse, the district said.
