An Arkansas woman was sentenced to 15 years in prison for fatally stabbing a 24-year-old in front of his child last year, authorities said Wednesday.

According to a news release from Second Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington, a Crittenden County jury found 26-year-old Tanisha Gillard of West Memphis guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Wesley Booker.

Gillard and Booker had argued about his "tardiness in picking up his child” Sept. 2, 2017, the release states. The fight ended with Gillard stabbing Booker, which she told officers she did in self-defense, the prosecutor said.

Gillard was sentenced to 10 years for the murder charge, with an additional five years because the stabbing happened in front of a child, authorities said. The sentencing order was filed last week, according to online court records.
