Emily Ann (Wooley) Rhodes passed away July 7, 2010 in Oklahoma City, OK after a courageous 4 year long battle with cancer. She was 51 years old. Emily was born June 13, 1959 in Pine Bluff, Ark. to Ralph Randall Wooley, M.D. and Rosemary Prickett Wooley. She attended grade school through high school years in Pine Bluff, AR and graduated from Hixson High School in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1977. She received an associate of science degree in Medical Administrative Assisting in 1982 from National College, in Rapid City, SD. She eventually used her medical training to become a personal injury litigation paralegal. Later, she became a secretary to the oil and gas industry where she worked the past 14 years for John Barresi/BBX Oil Corporation purchasing oil and gas minerals. She has been a member of the Desk and Derrick Club of Oklahoma City since 2000 where she served on the Board in numerous capacities and made numerous lifelong friends. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City where she served as Deacon and was a member of the choir and handbell choir. Music was a key element to her family and church life. She is survived by her husband and love of her life, Philip B. Rhodes; stepdaughter, Julianne Rhodes of Grand Junction, Colo.; stepdaughter Margaret Wysocki, husband Jeremy and their daughter Madeline of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; mother, Rosemary Wooley of Little Rock, Ark.; brother, Randy Wooley, wife Jan and their children, Jordan, Zachary and Meredith, of Argyle, Texas; and brother Jeff Wooley of Austin, Texas. She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Randall Wooley, M.D. Emily had a great love for her family and church family. Nothing was more important to her than being there for them and spending time with them. She loved Colorado and especially loved Summit and Eagle Counties where she enjoyed snow skiing at Vail, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin. Some of her favorite experiences were at the Ski Tip Lodge and the Alpenglow Stube at Keystone. Philip proposed to her on the River Run Gondola at Keystone so Colorado has remained a special place in her heart. They made many family trips there. Visitation will occur at Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary, 13125 N. MacArthur Blvd., in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City on Saturday, July 10, 2010 with a reception to follow. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 12, 2010 at Pine Crest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Emilys name either to the American Cancer Society or the Stained Glass Restoration Fund of First Presbyterian Church, Oklahoma City, located at 1001 NW 25th, Oklahoma City, Okla. 73106. The family would like to thank Drs. Charles Hollen, Sam Little, and Jennifer McNeil for their professionalism during this fight against cancer, all of the many acts of kindness and prayers from the members of First Presbyterian Church, the local Oklahoma County Hospice, the Evergreen Class, Desk and Derrick Club, her Bunco group and Hospice of Oklahoma County.
